Tributes

Given the latest lockdown announcement and the three-tiered local restrictions, we have made the difficult but necessary to cancel the Field of Remembrance in Belfast this year. The safety of the public, our volunteers and staff is of absolute priority.

Irrespective of this decision, we are determined that we will not let Covid-19 affect our commitment to remembering those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

We would therefore like to advise you that all Tributes intended for the Belfast Field of Remembrance, will now instead be planted, and dedicated as part of the Opening Service at the National Memorial Arboretum (NMA) Field of Remembrance – the UK’s year round centre for Remembrance.

Although the Opening Service will be closed to the public, it will be filmed and available to watch on our Field of Remembrance webpage, from 10 November 2020.

We are constantly monitoring the situation and reviewing each of our fields on a case by case basis, to ensure we are reacting to local circumstances. If between now and the Field opening at the NMA the situation changes so as we cannot open the field at this location, all Tributes will be placed at one of our other fields.

We are also arranging for all Tributes from the Belfast Field to be placed onto our Virtual Field of Remembrance, so that they can searched for and seen by all.

Please visit: rbl.org.uk/fieldsofremembrance for updates on when the Tributes can be viewed online, along with the thousands of other virtual Tributes made this year in Remembrance of a loved one.

If you have any queries or need any support with your Tribute, our Supporter Care Team is available to help on 0345 845 1945.
